About Buddhi Boxx

Buddhi Boxx furniture is designed (and currently crafted) by 400 hour certified yoga instructor Alisa Reynolds.

In the beginning - I tried to integrate a floor sitting practice into my desk work day. And it didn't work so well.

"I was in my first round of yoga teacher training and beginning to teach my body to sit on the floor again after decades of pain during floor sitting. Balanced floor sitting requires the whole body to get involved. It's a great way to explore how connected all our body parts really are."

I NEEDED A SOLID SURFACE TO PRACTICE ON.

I tried using a "yoga ball" or stability ball to do something close to the floor work that I needed to restore my body's capacity for floor sitting. Sitting on the ball does require more core engagement than chair sitting does. But it didn't give me the firm surface that allowed me to explore joint mobility and perpendicular spinal balance compare to the floor and the rest of the body. 

What I really needed was a floor desk but all the desks in this office were regular desk height.

I EFFECTIVELY NEEDED TO RAISE THE FLOOR TO DESK SITTING HEIGHT.

I looked on Google for a yoga box or desk box or box chair and didn't find anything that worked. This began my obsession with redesigning desk equipment to integrate body awareness and body work.

Robb at the Home Depot helped me out while I learned about building boxes to sit on. He was really patient with me. I was a true beginner.

The first version of the Buddhi Boxx was ugly, heavy, clunky, would have been a million dollars to ship, and had teeny tiny wheels that wouldn't turn 360 degrees because I installed them too close to the corners. 

I really liked the word Buddhi though because it was a play on words as I put my booty on the Buddhi Boxx and it's also the Sanskrit for for that place from which wisdom arises. 

IT WAS FEELING REALLY GOOD TO INTEGRATE MY YOGA JOURNEY INTO MY DESK DAY.

Yoga and floor sitting are natural solutions for all the pains and illnesses associated with desk work. They just don't line up well with currently designed desk equipment. 

FRIENDS TRIED BUDDHI BOXXES AND GAVE ME FEEDBACK.

AND NOW I SPEND ALL myTIME BUILDING DESK FURNITURE AND EQUIPMENT TO INTEGRATE YOGA INTO THE DESK SPACE. I ESTIMATES BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN COMMUNITY MEDICAL CARE COSTS CAN BE SAVED BY US BECOMING MORE AWARE OF OUR DESK BODIES AND INTEGRATING YOGA. BOTH PHYSICAL AND MENTAL AWARENESS ARE SERVED.
